Our team spends too much time manually creating weekly status update tasks and recurring deliverables. How can I set up automations in monday.com to automatically create these recurring tasks on a schedule?

Use the 'Create item at recurring time' automation. Go to Automations > Scheduled > Create item at recurring time. Set it to trigger weekly on your preferred day/time. For status reports, I recommend creating a template board with your standard weekly tasks, then use an automation to duplicate those items to your active board each week. Pro tip: Use item templates in the Advanced pack for more complex recurring workflows.

Beyond basic recurring tasks, you can set up dependent automations. For example: when a weekly review item is created, automatically assign it to the project owner and set a due date 2 days out. This creates a chain of recurring work without manual intervention. We saved about 5 hours/week using this approach.

One thing to note: recurring automations only work on boards, not across workspaces. If you need tasks created across multiple boards, you'll need separate automations or consider using the monday.com API with a scheduling tool. Also, make sure to use the 'Move item to another board' automation to archive completed recurring tasks.
